Insurance For Flyers in India

Considering its a sport thats seriously affected by the whims of nature & given the poor infrastructure in remote ares we think its sensible to get some sort of insurance that could help make the difference such as a helicopter evac. Unfortunately we havent managed to find anything to recomend just yet. We found the folling info on paragliding forums. Hope it helps...

New India assurance Ltd. we took medical cover and paid a small amount extra premium covering " hanggliding". This is not availbale for professional pilots but once you state you are recreational pilot flying less than 20 hours per year you will be granted the insurance.

My friend had a knock in paragliding and the cost of operation etc was quite a huge amount, but in view of this insurance being in place it was all settled directly by insurance company to hospital with practically no cost for my friend.

Hope this helps you guys, please specifically ask to "hangliding" to be covered in your medical policy when talking to New India Assurance company, it is described seperately under a schedule even the agents are not aware off and you may have to point it out to them.

Verspieren - it's a French company and their cover is excellent and is not restricted to length or number of trips. Plus it gives worldwide cover.
As an example I have annual worldwide cover for Instructing, paragliding, paramotoring and tandem. It includes emergency rescue including heli-lift, emergency hospital fees and repatriation if required. It gives me 1.6 million euros of third party liability cover all for an annual fee of 268 euros. Last time checked the cost for a solo paraglider was only around 80 euros per year.

The site link is below but there are some things to watch for - if you click "yes" to the question "are you a member of a club" you get taken off to another two forms to fill in. This isn't necessary - just click "no"

couple of things to look out for:

How were informed of our site? - choose "mouth to ear"
Are you member of a club? - VERY IMPORTANT - choose "NO"

then choose the top part of the form

Insurance Civil Liability Controls and/or Individuelle Accident for pilot/raise
(In this case, the person is ensured for all machines that it controls)

i.e. to insure the pilot in any machine he flies (as opposed to insuring one particular machine) Basically this means youre covered no matter whose paraglider you are flying.

Leave the bottom half of the form blank

fill in the start date

then click the calculate amount button

Civil liability + Individual accidents + assistance

80.00 euros

not bad i reckon.

you give your personal details, card details etc and you can print the policy off right away. They also mail you a copy.

The application form is here:
